It’s been a while!
The rainy season has started and it’s getting hotter.
I like summer fashion, but I don’t enjoy sweating.
I’d like to spend as much time as possible in air-conditioned rooms.
Trip to Osaka:
I visited Osaka at the end of April to meet up with my friend, who used to be my colleague but now lives in a different prefecture far from where I live. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, we used to meet once a year, but due to the situation, we hadn’t been able to meet for three years. It was such an enjoyable day!
We decided to go to a tea room since I’m a fan of British tea culture. They had an excellent selection of teas and sweets.
Tea Pod Dilemma:
I’ve been wanting a tea pod for a long time, but I couldn’t decide whether to buy a glass or ceramic one. Glass pods are transparent, allowing me to see how much tea is being brewed, but they mostly have the same design. On the other hand, ceramic pods come in various designs, but I can’t check the tea level while brewing.
I shared my dilemma with my friend, and she suggested that I could have both. Her remark struck me, and I had a sudden realization. Why did I mistakenly believe that I had to choose between a glass or ceramic teapot? I have plenty of mugs, so why did I think I couldn’t have multiple teapots?
Making a Doll:
For the first time, I made a doll using items I bought from a 100-yen shop. During Golden Week, my friends and I had a “Making Something Party” where we visited the 100-yen shop and decided what to make. The shop had many attractive materials and items for crafting. One of my friends found doll heads and bodies, which surprised me because I never thought we could make dolls with items from a 100-yen shop. Although I wasn’t particularly interested in dolls and preferred stuffed toys, I saw it as a good opportunity to try something new. In the end, it turned out to be a fun experience! I painted her face, made her clothes, and even created a wig for her. I’ve developed an attachment to the doll.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3:
I watched Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 and found myself shedding a few tears during the movie. It was an amazing film, but I couldn’t help feeling sad that I won’t be able to watch Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 4 anytime soon. I really hope Star-Lord comes back soon.
Chocolate Pretzel:
I discovered some fantastic chocolate pretzels at a bakery. I ended up buying them five weekends in a row. Today, I woke up and cleaned all the areas around the water sources. Then, I prepared a cup of coffee and enjoyed the pretzels I bought yesterday. It’s shaping up to be an awesome Sunday!
Favorite Novels:
I often recommend my favorite novels, and to my delight, a friend of mine who is learning English conversation in the same class told me she bought the books I recommended and is currently reading them! I was truly happy to hear that, and it inspired me to revisit the same novel.
I’m a big fan of books written by MORI Hiroshi. He writes mystery novels, science fiction, essays, and more. You can read his novels in English, so if you’re interested, please give them a try!
Straightening Irregular Teeth:
It took approximately two years, but I finally had my braces removed from my teeth a week ago. It was so expensive and troublesome, however, It was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. I have come to like myself more now that my teeth are straightened. I still need to wear a mouthguard, except during meal times, in order to maintain the alignment of my teeth for several months. Although it can be annoying, I am determined to diligently adhere to this requirement.
Fireflies:
I had the opportunity to see fireflies yesterday, and it was a beautiful sight! The place was bustling with various stands offering Yakitori, shaved ice with syrup on top, toy lotteries, and more. Going there brought me so much joy and happiness.
